Bel Air Believe It

Bel Air Market

When I moved to Charlottesville from Nashville I cried myself to sleep because I had left the greatest sandwich shop in the world. Bread and Co. was quite possibly the most amazing thing in the world, it had every bread, every meat, every everything you could want. Made-to-order, pre-made, salads, soup in a breadbowl, everything you could possibly want in this world for lunch. It was on the Card. And they had a frequent buyer plan.

I sleep better at night now because I have Bel Air Market. It has all of the above, and they even have Honest Tea iced tea - the Moroccan Mint Flavored one in particular. Oh, and they also have gas.
By now, Bel Air market is no secret to Charlottesville natives and newbies alike, so just a few tips to maximize the experience:

Love their bread? So do I. A huge bag of bread ends from yesterday are just $1.50.
Go with a friend - the tote for two includes a sandwich, drink, cookie, bag of chips, and a tote, complete lunch for 2, $22.
Go off hours, unless you're willing to wait. All the sandwiches are made-to-order, so noon gets hopping. Stick to 11:30, or after 1, and it will be empty.

Not only are there sandwiches at Bel Air Market but also at all of the other "markets" around town that are also owned by Tiger Fuel. Those other spots might be better, depending on where you're coming from and how important it is to avoid the rush from the University and St. Anne's around lunch and dinner time might.
